Where are my saves?

The game saves automatically after every step and every combat action. The files live here:

Windows	%APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\The Long Descent\
Linux and Steam Deck	~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/The Long Descent/

If you report a bug, attaching the save file lets me load your exact situation.

Common questions

Can I quit in the middle of a fight?

Yes. Close the game at any time. When you start it again you are on the same turn, with a recap of where you were.

My whole party died. Is the run over?

The run is, but your heroes are not. Their bodies stay on the floor where they fell. Hire a backup party at the tavern and go down to bring them home, then pay the temple to revive them. Don't wait too long.

Can I play with a controller?

Yes. Every screen works with a keyboard, a mouse or a controller.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. The game works offline and does not need an account.
